District Magistrate Haridwar HC Semwal instructed the district officials to compile an error-free voters’ list for the coming Panchayat elections slated in next year while holding a meeting at Collectorate Auditorium at Roshnabad. He further warned the district officials against buckling under pressure coming from the political quarters as far as the revision of the electoral rolls is concerned.
He also urged the officials to seriously read the guidelines of the Election Commission of India before starting the work. Notably, the tenure of the three- level Panchayati Raj institution will end either in March or in April next year.Additional district magistrate (ADM) Finance and Revenue has been appointed as the registry officer for the revision work by the DM.
Semwal added that those having reached 18 on 1 January, 2015, are eligible to enroll their names in the voters’ list. He also urged the district officials to rightly publicise the fact that the revision is going on to ensure that no eligible person is left out of the revised list. It may be mentioned that Form -2 is for including names while Form -3 is for correcting errors and Form -4 for removing names from the list.Persons engaged in the survey will work for 45 days starting 3 July. The tentatively revised list would be published in October following which objections would be looked into. The final list will be published on 28 November.
