The National thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) taking several giant power projects to Jharkhand seems to be hugely concerned about the security of its officials in Jharkhand with the diminishing law and order situation in the state.
The Chairman cum Managing Director of the PSU who was in Ranchi on Wednesday for joint venture with the State Government told the media that they may review its projects in the state if incidents like assault of its officials take place.
The NTPC CMD was replying to the query of media persons on the February 10 case of this year when Deputy General Manager of NTPC, Hazaribagh project Rakesh nandan Sahay was allegedly beaten up by the The Hazaribagh Depty Commissioner Sunil Kumar.
Choudhury said that the public sector might not only review its projects in Jharkhand, but also wind them up if incidents similar to that of Hazaribagh are repeated against its officials. He though added that the state Government needed to ensure safety and security of its officials and take necessary action in specific cases.
Incidentally, the actions taken take by the State Government on the Hazaribagh case are yet to reach a conclusion. The committee formed on the instructions of CM Raghubar Das to probe the issue had submitted its report to the Government but no action has been taken against any of the parties involved in the case, said sources. The investigation in the cases filed by both the parties is also going at snail’s pace.
