From men’s slim shirts to printed kaftaans for girls, the fashion has transformed in the State capital through the years, harnessing both traditional and cosmopolitan look.
The fashion in Bhopal maintained its pace in the last few years with the Indian fashion witnessing a rapid growth with each passing era.
The youngsters are seen wearing, hot pants, worn out jeans, loafers, vans, sweat shirts and even a mix of indo-western style is grabbing much attention.
Notably, in past few years the western influence has paved a way for itself, making difference in the styles.
For girls from the plain short tops complimenting with hot pants and high heels to long shrugs over one piece minis is in these days. As far as male fashion is considered, young guys prefer worn out jeans along with printed sweat shirts complementing their look with vans.
These changes in fashion are also optimistically changing the stereotyped mentality of the Bhopalites. Also the awareness power of the people has resulted in a sudden boom.
Talking about these new alterations city fashion designer Mumtaz Khan told The Pioneer, “No doubt the fashion industry has evolved too much in past 20 years.
And now this is the time for stereotyped to change their mentality. I always design dresses which are not only wearable but they look pretty as formal or informal attire. Through my designs I have always tried to portray that time in fashion is changing for better.”
Adding to this super model Shawar Ali said, “For me fashion is in which I feel comfortable. If I feel comfortable in trousers, t-shirt and sneakers than for me it’s my style statement. But, if I have an option to try the in-trends on ramp then I have to do it.”
On being asked how he sees the changes in Bhopal, he says, “There was time when people literally hated fashion. But, for past few years I have been noticing that people have started to accept newness in fashion. Now when I walk in the old streets I see young guys wearing colourful shirts, t-shirts, worn out jeans, loafers and it looks great. I feel happy when I see that the numbers in stereotyped is decreasing in Bhopal.”
On the other hand, former Miss India Globe 2011, Parul Duggal said, “Doing ‘good’ fashion is nowhere wrong. When I wanted to be a model people here was too stereotyped but now they have changed. Girls are now more inclined towards western outfits which of course looks pretty on them. I believe that with the evolution in fashion industry, the mentality of people has also evolved here.”
