Nobel laureate Professor Venkatraman Ramakrishnan would visit Panjab University and deliver INST-PSCST Hargobind Khorana & DST Inspire Inaugural lecture at University law Auditorium on January 5.
PU Vice Chancellor Arun K Grover, Director, INST Ashok K Ganguli and Executive Director, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology Dr Neelima Jairath released the detailed programme of Prof Ramakrishnan in the the tricity.
He would visit the tricity from January 3 to 6 and during the four-day visit, he would deliver series of lectures at Mohali and Chandigarh. He would interact with scientists, faculty and students at IISER, INST, PSCST, CSIR-IMTECH, PGIMER & PU.
Prof Venkatraman would address the students of INSPIRE camp on the topic “Antibiotics and the Cell's Protein Factory” at IISER, Mohali at 9 am on January 4. On the same day, he would deliver Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Medal lecture on “One Hundred Years of Visualising Molecules “. The lecture is being organised by Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi at IISER, Mohali.
On January 5, PU VC Arun Kumar Grover would receive Prof Venkatraman from IISER. After a short break at Institute of Nanoscience & Technology (INST), Mohali, he would reach at BMS block, South Campus of PU, Sector 25. At BMS Block, he would interact with PU Science Faculty. On that occasion, PU would announce a new 5 year integrated degree course.
He would also visit Physics Department to refresh his past memories as he was a student under National Science Talent Search (NSTS) at Physics Department of PU in 1969.
After visiting BMS and Physics department, he would visit law Auditorium, where he would interact with Punjab State Council of Science & Technology (PSCST) officials, INST officials, DST Inspire Camp Mentors and DST Inspire Internship Camp students.
After informal interaction, the Nobel laureate would deliver Public lecture on the topic of "On Nobody's Word: Evidence and Modern Science" at PU Auditorium under the aegis of Punjab Council of Science & Technology and Inaugural
lecture of INST-PSCST Har Gobind Khorana series on the Inauguration of 3RD DST Inspire Internship Program at PU, Chandigarh.
