The BJP State unit has set a target to complete its organisational polls and selection of its new president by January 15 next.
This was decided at a meeting of the party’s State office-bearers, national executive body members and MlAs held at the party headquarters on Sunday.
The meeting revealed that while the polls at the primary level have already been completed, the number of Mandals was increased to 997 from 425 as the Mandals were constituted taking every zone of Zilla Parishad this time. Earlier, a Mandal was created taking a block.
Party State president KV Singh Deo, Union Minister Jual Orma, Suresh Pujari, Biswabhusan Harichandan and Bijay Mohapatra attended the meeting.
Party national joint secretary (organisation) Soudan Singh and party State in-charge Arun Singh too were present.
“We have planned to complete the Mandal-level polls by December 10 and district committee polls by December 25. If everything goes as planned, selection of State president should also be over by the first week of January,” said party leader Nayan Kishore Mohanty.
