Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav visited the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and the KIIT University here on Friday. He went around various facilities of KISS and addressed its 25,000 indigenous students.
Yadav said the KISS has provided best platform for all-round development of tribal boys and girls. They should put in hard work with all sincerely and utilise this opportunity to the fullest, he advised.
“I had heard about KISS, but after visiting the institute, I am astonished to see such a large number of students here. I have never seen such an institution anywhere in India. It is not a small matter to provide food, clothes, accommodation, healthcare facility and education free of cost to 25,000 students,” he stated. All these have been possible due to sincerity and relentless effort of its founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, he added.
Dr Samanta delivered the welcome address while UP Minister Rajendra Choudhary also spoke on the occasion.
later, Yadav addressed the 3rd KIIT International Model United Nations (KIIT-MUN) at the KIIT University. Being held in partnership with the UNFPA and US Consulate General, Hyderabad, it is one of the largest MUNs in the world. Over 1,800 delegates from leading institutions of the country like IITs, NITs, National law Schools, and JNU as well as from 20 nations are participating in the event.
Yadav advised the student-delegates to prepare themselves for the future challenges. The world would face three major challenges, climate change, food for all and affordable healthcare for all, and it is for the youths to think how to overcome them, he said.
It may be mentioned that Yadav last year had invited Dr Samanta to lucknow to know more about KIIT and KISS. He felt the KISS model could be replicated not only in UP but also in the entire country so that the poorest of the poor students of the country could get quality education and be included in the mainstream society.
