The Centre has allocated Rs75 crore for providing Intensive Care Unit facility to infants in Jashpur, Kanker and Dantewada during the current fiscal (2015-16), officials stated. The Health Department will monitor online the Infant Intensive Health Care Unit in Raipur soon. The UNICEF and a self-help organisation Ekam Foundation is assisting the Central scheme. The State Government hospitals in 12 districts are already providing intensive care facility to infants with serious ailments. The newly-born babies, who were prematurely delivered, babies with below par weight and serious diseases are kept in the Intensive Care centres operated by the State Government hospitals.
The 12 district hospitals, where Intensive Care Centres are operating are-Raipur, Ambikapur, Dhamtari, Korba, Raigarh, Baikunthpur (Korea), Bilaspur, Kabhirdham, Rajnandgaon, Jagdalpur (Bastar) and Mahasamund. Twelve-bed separate wards are operating in ten district hospitals. Baby Warmer Machines are also installed for providing comprehensive treatment at these hospitals. Rajnandgaon and Durg hospitals have 18-bed facility with Baby Warmer Machines installed.
