The Commissionerate Police is likely to issue non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Raju Barik, the prime accused in the murder of a building raw material supplier Dilip Nayak at Patrapada on the outskirts of the capital city.Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma told reporters that efforts are on to nab Raju Barik. “We will issue NBW against him and initiate steps for attachment of his properties if the police fail to trace him at the earliest.” The police have arrested Sarat Samantray and Suryakant Samantray, who are part of a mob which attacked Dilip with firearms.
However, Raju is still on the run. A team led by Commissionerate Police Special Squad ACP Anup Kanungo has launched a manhunt to nab Raju and raids are being conducted in several parts of the State. On June 18, Dilip was shot dead by Raju Barik.Meanwhile, decrying police inaction in arresting Barik a large number activists of a Dalit organisation on Monday gheraoed the Khandagiri police station and blocked the NH-16 hampering vehicular movement.
