A hardcore Naxal on whose head an amount of Rs 1 lakh bounty announced was arrested during a search operation by security forces in the insurgency-hit Bijapur district, police said on Thursday.
In a separate operation, police seized gun, mobile phone and other items following a brief gun battle with ultras in a forested patch of Kanker district.
According to the police, the arrested ultra was President of DAKMS (Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangh) one of the frontal organizations of banned organization Communist Party of India (Maoist).
The ultra identified as Modiyam Bojji (26) resident of Chilnar village under Bijapur police station circle, police said.
"A joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and District Police was carrying out search operation in Chilnar, Gorna Mankeli village under Bijapur police station limits. They got intelligence input about presence of Bojji in Chilnar village. The police team then carried out raid in the village and nabbed Bojji," Superintendent of Police (SP), Bijapur, Kl Dhruv said.
Four permanent warrants were issued for the arrest of Bojji for his involvement in serious criminal incidents like murder and attempt to murder.
The insurgent was carrying reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, the SP said. In a separate action, a joint team of STF and DF seized arms, mobile phone and other items following a gun battle with ultras in the jungle near Aalparas village under Koilebeda police station limits.
A muzzle gun, mobile phones, radio, bullets, gunpowder, medicines were seized from the spot.
