MKCG Medical College students, who have been opposing proposed take-in of students of the Sardar Rajas Medical College, Kalahandi in their institute, on Sunday, urged the Southern Division RDC to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest. The students took out a protest rally from the college campus to the Komapalli square and submitted a memorandum to the RDC.
In the memorandum, they resented that if outside students are admitted in the MKCG, their teaching would be severely affected and their accessibility to lectures, theatre and laboratory would be diminished. Hostel accommodation problems would also arise, they mentioned.
The students too raised questions over the sudden permission of the Medical Council of India (MCI) for admission of Sardar Rajas students in the MKCG.
“It is not understood on what consideration the MCI gave its nod for admission of Sardar Rajas students while it had earlier avoided MKCG authorities’ repeated requests for seat hike proposal. The High Court approval in this regard is too ambiguous,” students mentioned in the memorandum.
Over a hundred students participated in the rally led by Students’ union president Ramapada Mohapatra, Rakesh Kumar Padhi, Sabyasachi Padhi and Smita Priyadarshini. They too threatened to intensify the agitation if their demands are not met at the earliest.
