Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Minister Antar Singh Arya has urged Waqf Mutawalli Committees for Waqf properties’ proper upkeep, preservation, increase in income and prevention of misuse of properties. Arya said that Waqf properties should be used for upliftment of poor, destitute and needy Muslims. Arya was inaugurating the second session of the State-level Waqf Mutawalli Conference of Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board and Central Waqf Council on Monday.
Arya said that there are about 15,000 Waqf properties in the State. They are managed by management committees and Mutawallis. Arya said that apart from apprising all concerning officers and employees about Waqf Amendment Act-2013, information about Waqf issues should also be disseminated to common people also. Badruddin of National Waqf Development Corporation, New Delhi informed about corporation’s schemes and Afzal of Delhi about Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2013.
The conference was held in two sessions. In the first session, Maulana Syed Sharafat Ali Nadvi highlighted the aim of Waqf under the light of holy Quran. This session was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and MP Nandkumar Singh Chouhan. A Souvenir ‘Bayaz-e-Waqf’ was also released on the occasion. Chouhan in his address on the occasion assured that the State Government would provide full cooperation for security and better management of Waqf properties of State.
He instructed the Minorities Welfare Minister Arya to reissue the circular that was issued in 1992 in that collectors were told for security and better management of Waqf properties and auction of its agricultural lands.
Mutawallis of the State were informed in detail about the better management, security and development of the Waqf properties during the conference.
