The Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre declared withdrawal of monsoon from the State on Tuesday. Uttarakhand received deficient rainfall this year. The total rainfall in State during monsoon is 28 per cent below normal till September 29, 2015. The Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that Uttarakhand has received overall rainfall measuring 881.6 mm against normal rainfall of 1226.8 mm (showing departure minus 28 per cent) till September 29 this year.
The Meteorological centre figures indicate that the State has been experiencing average deficient rainfall for the past two years. “In 2013, the withdrawal of monsoon was declared on October 17. In 2014, this date was October 5. Uttarakhand received 897.6 mm of rainfall against the normal of 1229.2, showing shortfall of 27 percent between June 1 and September 30, 2014,” he added.
Singh said that the south west monsoon has withdrawn from entire Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The withdrawal line passes through Dharchula, Etawah, Guna, Ratlam, Ahmedabad, Dwarka.
Chamoli district has received 939.9 mm rainfall which is the maximum in the State as against the normal of 856.6 mm showing an excess of about 10 per cent than normal. Pithoragarh received 827.5 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1685.5 mm showing minimum of 51 per cent deficient rain than normal.
Dehradun district received 1268.1 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1799.4 mm showing 30 per cent deficient rains than normal. Rudraprayag district received 1016.4 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1667.2 mm showing 39 per cent deficient rains than normal. Almora received 630 mm rainfall as against the normal of 857 mm showing 26 per cent deficient rains than normal. Bageshwar district received 795.4 mm rainfall as against the normal of 857 mm showing 7 per cent deficient rains than normal. Champawat district received 1062 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1316 mm showing 19 per cent deficient rains than normal. Pauri district received 778 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1210.8 mm showing 36 per cent deficient rains than normal. Nainital received 1268.8 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1436.8 mm showing 12 per cent deficient rains than normal. Uttarkashi received 861.5 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1147 mm showing 25 per cent deficient rains than normal. Tehri district received 562.5 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1045.3 mm showing 46 per cent deficient rains than normal.
In the plains- Haridwar received 761 mm rainfall as against the normal of 960.8 mm showing 21 per cent deficient rains than normal and Udham Singh Nagar received 730.4 mm rainfall as against the normal of 1116.1 mm showing 35 per cent deficient rains than normal. Singh further said that the departure -19 per to +19 per cent is normal while departure -20 per cent to -59 per cent is deficient. The duration of monsoon season in U’khand is 4 months, from June 1 to September 30, he added.
