Chhattisgarh State Women Commission Chairperson lata Usendi on Friday inaugurated the daylong workshop on ‘Gender sensitisation and gender equality’ organised at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University.In her address, Usendi said that gender discrimination in society is a burning issue, which can be resolved only through change in mentality at individual level.
“Men and women should be treated equally, as both have same importance in development of the society,’’ Usendi, the former Minister in Chhattisgarh’s BJP Government, remarked.The workshop was organised by Chhattisgarh State Women Commission, in association with Women Study Centre of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University.
Inaugural session of the workshop was presided over by Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Prof SK Pandey.On the occasion, AIG Superintendent of Police (SP) of CID Neha Champawat gave detailed information about ‘cyber crime’.Member of Women Commission Harshita Pandey threw light on subject ‘sex and gender’, Gynecologist Dr Asha Jain gave description on ‘nutritious meal and women’s health’.
Ex-Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation Kiranmayee Nayak also addressed the workshop. In the programmes, winners of poster, essay and poetry writing competition organised on January 29 were distributed prizes.Other participants were awarded consolation prizes. Meanwhile, Women Commission Secretary Jagrani Ekka, professors of the university and large number of students were also present.
