Chief Minister Raman Singh said on Friday that media plays an important role in providing exposure and recognition to budding talents and also in glorifying art-culture of Chhattisgarh and development of State at national and international level.Singh was addressing the MoU signing programme organised at his residence. In this programme presided over by Chief Minister, Kushabhau Thakre Patrakarita and Jansanchar Vishwavidyalay, Raipur and Network 18- a media organisation, signed memorandum of understanding (MoU).
In the presence of Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University Sachchidanand Joshi and Chairman of ‘Network 18’ Umesh Upadhyay signed the MoU.As per the MoU, students of the university will be given opportunity to take up internship in Network 18 media organisation. Students will get practical training in this organisation.
Moreover, Broadcast experts of Network 18 will provide technical training in new genres of modern media to professors of the university as well. Officials of this media organisation will visit the University from time to time as visiting faculty to provide technical guidance to students and professors.In past 10 years, this is the first MoU signed by Kushabhau Thakre University with any media organisation of the country.
As Chief Guest of the programme, Chief Minister Raman Singh said that this MoU is the third major achievement of the University in past one decade.He said that this University of State Government was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister and creator of Chhattisgarh State Atal Bihari Vajpayee nearly 10 years back on April 16, 2005.
Nearly two years back globally renowned Buddhist leader and Head of Tibet’s exiled Government the Dalai lama had graced the first convocation ceremony of the University.After these two significant and memorable programmes, signing of this MoU is another major achievement of the university.Chief Minister said that State Government is extending every possible support to the University to realise the vision of Atal Ji, with which this university was established.
“Truthfulness, simplicity and honesty are the basic nature of people in Chhattisgarh. And the State has no dearth of talent,’’ Singh stated.Chief Minister further said that other than the theoretical knowledge of any subject, practical knowledge and skill at field level is equally important.The MoU signed on Friday will unleash the way to better training and skill improvement as per the changing trends in media sector and will also provide national-international exposure to students of the university.
This will add up to their employability as skilled journalist in the media world.Singh congratulated the University and Network 18 media organisation for signing the MoU.Vice-Chancellor of the University Sachchidanand Joshi said that it is “Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s and renowned Journalist and Hindi Poet Makhanlal Chaturvedi’s death anniversary on Friday, and both the great personalities have given immense contribution to journalism in their lifetime.
Joshi threw light upon the main features of the MoU signed today. Network 18 Chairman Umesh Upadhyay and Deputy Managing Editor Sumit Awasthi also expressed their views.In the ceremony, State Government’s Agriculture Department Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Ajay Singh, Principal Secretary Public Relations Amitabh Jain, Director Public Relations Rajat Kumar, Director Chhattisgarh Hindi Granth Akademi Ramesh Naiyyar, Ex-State Election Commissioner Sushil Trivedi and other veteran journalists, professors of the University and students were present.
At the onset, Mahatma Gandhi’s and late Pt Makhanlal Chaturvedi’s photos were garlanded and courteous tribute was paid to them on their death anniversaries.Before the programme, a two-minute silence was observed as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The programme was conducted by University Professor Shahid Ali and vote of thanks was proposed by Registrar Vansutre.
