Maoist rebels on Wednesday torched a passenger bus in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-infested Sukma district after asking the passengers to alight, police said. The incident occurred near Chingavaram village under Gadiras police station limits when the private bus was on its way to Sukma district headquarters from Dantewda, according to Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Harish Rathore .
A group of armed rebels stopped the bus near Chingavaram village, around 15 kms ahead of Sukma, and asked the passengers to get down from the bus. They later set the bus on fire, Rathore said. However, no harm to passengers has been reported in the incident, he said. Soon after being informed of the incident, security forces were rushed to the spot, Rathore said. A combing operation has been launched in the region to nab the rebels, he said.
