Wednesday, 30 September 2015 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

An Assistant Constable was reportedly abducted by ultras in insurgency-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Tuesday.

The Assistant Constable identified as Pandu Ram Kudiyam was abducted by outlaws from forest patch falling under limits of Farsegarh police station late on Monday evening, police said, adding that Kudiyam was recruited in Chhattisgarh Police as ‘Auxiliary Personnel’.

According to the police, a group of armed Naxals intercepted  Kudiyam when he was on the way to Farsegarh to resume duty after attending some family engagement at village Palmendri and took him inside dense forest.

After being informed about the incident, reinforcement was rushed to the spot.

Police and paramilitary personnel have launched an intense operation to rescue the abducted Constable.

Moreover, efforts are on to ascertain the whereabouts of the kidnapped Assistant Constable but no headway was yet to be made in this connection.

It may be recalled that on second week of July this year, insurgents had abducted four Assistant constables and killed them the next day.

Similarly, an Assistant Constable Peela Das was kidnapped and hacked to death by Maoists in Sukma on first week of September this year.
