Mango Orchard inaugurated at IIT, BBS

In an attempt to develop a zero-energy drawing and green field campus, the IIT Bhubaneswar (IIT, BBS) in association with the Central Horticultural Experimentation Station (CHES) has developed a Mango Orchard in its campus.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science) Dr NK Krishna Kumar and IIT, BBS Director Prof RV Raja Kumar inaugurated the facility on Wednesday. Several faculty members and the students of the Institute have also taken part in the plantation drive which continued on Thursday.

The CHES joined the endeavour by providing 500 saplings of 60 mango varieties to the institute. CHSES head Dr HS Singh also participated in the drive.

The IIT, BBS has targeted to plant 6000 plants before end of the present season, said Prof Kumar.
