A 30-year-old man was allegedly killed by his mother and younger brother in Idgah Hills locality on Friday night. The two also attempted to burn the body.
The incident came to fore when wife of the deceased approached police on Sunday and lodged a complaint regarding the incident.
According to the Shahjehanabad Police, Anjali Malviya and her brother Sunil lodged a complaint with the Shahjehanabad police regarding murder of her husband Kamal Malviya by her brother-in-law Bheem and mother-in-law Basanti.
Subsequently, a police team reached the spot and found remains of the body near the parking lot at Idgah Hills. Both the brother and mother of the deceased were arrested, police said.
The accused reportedly confessed that on Friday night Kamal came home in an inebriated state and started abusing his mother in front of his wife Anajli and later started assaulting his mother. When Kamal was beating his mother, Bheem arrived and tried to stop Kamal but he continued to beat his mother and irritated over the act, Bheem hit him with a hammer which proved fatal for Kamal.
Thereafter, Beem and his mother burnt the body and threatened Anjali not to report the incident to police and her family. However, later, Anjali managed to meet her family on Sunday and reported the incident to police.
The accused also told the police that the deceased, who worked as a labour, was a habitual drinker and used to fight frequently with them.
CSP Sameer Yadav said after the complaint was filed by deceased’s wife Anjali and her brother Sunil, a police team rushed to the spot and found some remains of the body as he was burnt completely. Bheem and his mother Basanti have been arrested and further investigation has been started. The hammer used in the killing has been recovered.
The police registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
