Monday, 31 August 2015 | PNS | Jamshedpur

loyola School inaugurated a state-of-the-art auditorium Fasy Auditorium on the school campus. TV Narendran, managing director, inaugurated the auditorium on Saturday evening.  Addressing the gathering, Narendran said that Jamshedpur is famous for its schools and the new auditorium will help the students enjoy the facility. He motivated students to become leaders of tomorrow.

Rector of the school, Father Cl George welcomed the guests. The school choir then sang a few prayer songs. Dance drama ‘Satrang’ brought the stage alive with an array of performances. The performance was a tribute to the Jesuit Fathers and teachers for their efforts in spreading education.

The auditorium has several modern features. The triple storied structure has a seating capacity of 1,578 students which is more than double when compared to the earlier auditorium which only accommodated 600 students. Along with centralised air conditioner, the auditorium boasts of world-class sound system.
A team of engineers from Kolkata have worked day and night for putting up the lights. Principal of the school, Father Sebastian said, most of the items used in the auditorium have been imported from South Korea which along with looking attractive is also durable. The chairs in the auditorium have been exclusively designed for loyola School.

The foundation stone of Fasy Auditorium was laid in December 2012 by the then managing director of Tata Steel HM Nerurkar and days later the construction started. The auditorium has been designed by alumnus of the school lawrence Francis.

Father Sebastian further informed that the auditorium will not be used on commercial purpose but will be provided to city schools or any educational institute who want to organise a program or an event.

Fasy Auditorium is named after Rev Fr Fasy S J, a stout and dynamic person, was the Rector of loyola School till about 1955. He left for the States and never returned. Rev Fr Holland S J succeeded him as the Rector. Fr Fasy was a great orator and equipped with quick wit. The old C N R club auditorium was demolished in 1984. A new one stood in its place. It was rightly named as The Fasy Auditorium in the pioneer’s honour. Indeed, Fr Fasy was one of the greatest Jesuits of loyola School.

The management is trying to give new look to the school. For the children, a new park has also been constructed in the school premises. Kids can enjoy several joy rides and keep themselves busy with toys imported from South Korea.
