light to moderate rains lashed some parts of Haryana and Punjab along with high velocity winds ,dropping the temperature levels across the region on Monday.The temperature levels plunged up to four notches below normal in some parts of the region.Punjab’s Amritsar recorded 25 mm rainfall while ludhiana received 8 mm rains, according to the Met Department.Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana settled at maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius, down by three degrees from normal and minimum was recorded at 26.8 degrees Celsius on Monday.

In Haryana, Karnal recorded maximum temperature at 32.4 degrees Celsius, four notches down the normal, Ambala saw 33.9 degrees, Bhiwani 38.4 degrees Celsius and Hissar recorded 38.5 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal level.In neighbouring Punjab, Amritsar witnessed maximum at 36.6 degrees Celsius, ludhiana at 33.8 degrees, four notches below normal and Patiala settled at 34.1 degrees Celsius.

The local Met Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours.In neighboring hilly state of Himachal, Shimla recorded maximum temperature at 22.4 degrees Celsius and minimum at 18.2 degrees. Shimla received 18 mm rains.Among other places, Solan recorded maximum at 28.5 degrees, Bhuntar 28.6 degrees, Una 34.8 degrees, Sundernagar 30.4 degrees, Dharamshala 28.2 degrees and Nahan 26.5 degrees Celsius.
