The district administration, at a meeting held here, has issued orders to schools to lessen the weight of school bag.
Presiding over the meeting, Collector Niranjan Das asked the District Education Officer to make sure if the instructions are followed strictly.
As per instructions, school principals and teachers should prepare a time-table by which students are not forced to bring all the books and notebooks everyday.
“The school management committees should sensitise parents that bags provided to kids should be of minimum basic weight so that their development is not affected,” he said.
“The continuing practice of students in non-Government schools carrying referencing guides, workbooks and register etc, along with textbooks should be discontinued at any cost.”
“Principals of such schools should ensure that the same is stopped and create general awareness in this regard,” Das said.
“Proper planning is required while giving home assignments to students. So that student is not compelled to produce multiple homeworks on a single day.
The Collector also urged to ensure implementation and regular monitoring of the order.
