The land acquisition work for the Gevra Road-Pendra Road Railway line project is likely to commence with the Chhattisgarh Government soon conducting hearings on objections filed on the notifications issued as per the Railway Act 1989 Section ( 20) (a).
The hearings would be conducted at the office of the District Collector in Korba on December 9 from 11 am to 5 pm, officials stated.
The 122-km-long East-West Rail Corridor will be constructed on the Gevra Road-Deepika-Katghora-Sindurgarh-Pasan-Pendra Road section, with an estimated cost of `863 crore.
The Gevra Road-Pendra Road Railway line project will be implemented under the ‘Chhattisgarh East-West Rail Corridor Project’.
The Survey for the Chhattisgarh East-West Rail Corridor had already been completed.
Notably, a joint venture company consisting of IRCON International limited, South Eastern Coalfields limited (SECl) and Chhattisgarh Government had been formed, to lay Railway tracks from Gevra Road to Pendra Road, to facilitate movement of passengers as well as freight, primarily coal from Chhattisgarh.
About 121.828 hectare private land is to be acquired for the project . Besides about 52.277 hectare revenue land and 37 hectare forest land would also be acquired for the project.
In June this year, a ‘Concession Agreement’ was also signed between South East Central Railway (SECR) and Chhattisgarh East Railway ltd (CERl) for development of East Rail Corridor.
It was signed in the presence of Union Coal Secretary Anil Swarup and Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand and SECR General Manager Rajiv Vishnoi at the Mantralaya in Naya Raipur.
The agreement was between SECR’s Chief Traffic Project Manager A S Babu and CERl Chief Executive Officer (CEO) A K Vishwas.
Following the signing of the agreement, work for first phase of the Rail Corridor project from Kharsia to Dharamjaygarh spanning a distance of 74 kms, will commence shortly.
The project cost of development of the Railway line between Korba to Kharsia is ` 2,322 crore. The development work had been targetted to be completed by September 2017.
As per the agreement, there would be 50:50 revenue sharing between SECR and CERl on freight movement in the developed Rail line.
The CERl would develop and maintain the Rail line and SECR would manage freight and passenger transportation.
This is a significant project both for the Central Government and Chhattisgarh Government, Union Coal Secretary Anil Swarup said.
The Union Ministry of Railways has provided in-principle approval for the construction of Raipur-Balodabazar- Jhasarguda and Ambikapur-Barwadih ( Jharkhand) Railway line projects, officials stated.
The proposal was put forward by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh who had called on Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi recently.
The length of Raipur-Balodabazar- Jhasarguda Railway line would measure 320 kms and Ambikapur-Barwadih ( Jharkhand) Railway line would be 120 kms.
Meanwhile, the work of laying Railway track in 17 kms stretch between Dallirajhra and Dondi had been completed, Railway officials informed in a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand in Naya Raipur recently.
The meeting was convened to review the progress of the ambitious Dallirajhra-Rowghat Railway line project.
Officials informed in the meeting that the Dallirajhra-Dondi line would soon
be ready for passenger
train traffic.
It was also informed in the meeting that the tendering process of laying Railway track between 18 to 42 kms under the project had been completed. The work is expected to be completed by November this year, after removal of power transmission lines and availability of police force to construct a total of 17 bridges in the district.
The tendering process is underway for 42 to 77 kms stretch and the same would be completed by January 2016 and the work in the sector would commence by February 2016, it was informed.
