People from various walks of life, apart from the district administration officials across the Kumaon division, paid tribute to the freedom-fighters who sacrificed their life at the altar of India’s independence, and particularly, to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on the latter’s martyrdom anniversary on Friday.
They pledged to emulate the examples, the pantheon of martyrs gave, if the situations warrant them to sacrifice everything to safeguard the nation’s independence.Officials of the Udham Singh Nagar district administration, led by Pankaj Pandey, District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and other martyrs and observed two minutes’ silence in their memory at the collectorate premises at Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar. Similarly, officials concerned of the Bageshwar district administration led by B S Manral, District Magistrate, Bageshwar, also paid tributes to mark the occasion.
Besides, tributes were paid at different offices, tehsils and educational institutions across Bageshwar district on the occasion.Among senior officials of the Bageshwar district administration present on the occasion were Harbeer Singh, Rekha Kohali, Bhaskaranand Pandey and Prakash Tripathi.Officials concerned of Champawat district administration also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. At the same time, people remembered the martyrs from Kumaon division.
