Though the enthusiastic approach of the citizens towards smart city scheme will definitely prove fruitful, but increase of the job opportunities and economic activities is equally important,” said expert and executive director of Indian School of Business OP Agrawal.
Notably, a workshop was organized here on Friday at Council hall, ISBT. During the workshop the suggestion from citizens were minutely discussed. On the occasion executive director of Indian School of Business OP Agrawal was present as the chief speaker.
Addressing the workshop, he said that allotment of land and enthusiastic approach of citizens towards the making of smart city will be a good idea. But, the increase in economic activities will also prove fruitful. He further said that the steps taken by the government of Madhya Pradesh in the making of smart city, and the approach of the citizens towards it is appreciable. The scheme being prepared for the smart city is one of its kinds and the job opportunities should be increased keeping in view the approx population of last 20-25 years. Moreover, the city should be developed in such a way that it could create it different identity, added Agrawal.
Agrawal also welcomed the suggestions from the citizens present in the workshop. The citizens gave various ideas including heritage and tourism, skill development and business training, education and many other fields of development. On the occasion, Mayor Alok Sharma was also present.
While addressing the workshop Sharma appreciated the ideas given by citizens. He further appreciated the enthusiastic approach of the citizens in the making of smart city. He said that the support from the citizens encourages the government to take better steps in the development of the city. While appreciating the citizen’s approach, he said that as many as 80,000 suggestions have been received on the Indian Government Portal.
Sharma further said that as Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is carrying out the various schemes like heritage city, global city, digital city, clean and green city, similarly smart city project is being carried out as per his wishes. During the workshop, BMC Commissioner Tejaswi S Naik, Redevelopment expert WRI Sri Kumar and Amit Bhatt of Embark India were also present.
