Government undertaking ‘Jharcraft’ will soon sign an MoU with its associated NGOs and artisans for enhancing the latter’s productivity. Under the plan, the products of each NGO will be exhibited in the Jharcraft emporiums across the nation. The revenue generated by the sale of the product in any of the emporium will be given to the particular NGO also known as production centre.
“Most of our NGO partners like Aadhaar from Bundu, Adiwasi Women Handicrafts and Social Welfare Development Society from Khunti along with Stambh from Gumla lack a proper market in their area. For the sake of developing the local handicraft, we have decided to sign the MoU by Friday. On Saturday, our designing section will examine the quality of their products,” Jharcraft Managing Director AT Mishra said during a meeting with representatives of over 12 social organisations regarding marketing strategies on Saturday.
The MoU is likely to be implemented by June end or July. Mishra is presently keeping a daily update of all the emporiums. He said, “We will review the list of unsold products in each stall after a period of six months and discuss the reason behind the issue. Those not being sold will be returned to the production centre.”
He further pointed that the packaging of the produced materials of the NGOs like terracotta, Dokhra, soap, clothes, Mahua oil based soap or lemon oil will be done by Jharcraft. “The packaging and marketing plays a pivotal role in attracting the public,” he said. The proposal was welcomed by the participants.
