Jamsola gate ACTO held for undue favour

Sunday, 31 May 2015 | PNS | CUTTACK

Vigilance sleuths on Saturday arrested Jamsola Unified Check Gate Additional Commercial Tax Officer (ACTO) Bhaskar Hari Tripathy on the charges of undue official favour, forgery and cheating in using waybill.

A week ago, Vigilance police had intercepted a truck loaded with 500 bags of wheat coming from Calcutta to Jannla, Khordha at Bampada, Baleswar. The truck and wheat were put under verification as the vehicle had not passed through the Jamsola Ghat and instead come through the bypass route at Ambiliatha, Jaleswar to evade sales tax.  Though the vehicle was intercepted on May 23/24 night at 0.14 5 am at Bampada, yet the waybill of the Jamsola Ghat showed that the vehicle passed at 12.09 pm on May 24. It was found that the Jamsola check-gate used valid waybill in order to show undue official favour to the wheat dealer.

Tripahty was later forwarded to the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baleswar, an official release informed.
