Jain honurs cops for their exlnt investigative work

Director General of Police, AK Jain felicitated three cops for making top three best investigations in criminal offenses in the State which led to conviction of the accused. Interestingly, all the three cases were of Mayawati’s last regime and in one of the cases, the then chief minister also handed over a compensation package to the accused, who later turned out to be prime accused in the killing. Jain handed over a cash reward of Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 25000 respectively to the IOs.

Talking to media persons here on Monday evening, AK Jain, who would retire on Tuesday, said that he had decided to give reward for making outstanding investigation so he invited entries and after sorting it out, he reward three officials for making best investigation. Jain gave top price of Rs 50,000 to Rajendra Prasad Gupta (retired deputy SP), to than inspector of Hasanpur in Amroha district, who made investigation into gruesome killing of 7 members of a family in 2008. Gupta found the involvement of Shabnam, daughter of Saukat Ali, in the killing of her father and six other family members. It was found that Shabnam with the help of her lover Saleem, had eliminated the entire family so that they could get the entire property and also live happily together. In wake of strong evidences collected by the investigating officer, both the accused were awarded capital punishment which was later also upheld by the Supreme Court.

The second award of Rs 35,000 was given to sub-inspector, Brijesh Kumar Sharma,  then posted at Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. He made probe into a dacoity case registered in 2010 and arrested five accused and recovered looted mobile phone from their possession. In wake of strong evidence, the court sentences all the arrested criminals with imprisonment for four years besides directing the accused to deposit Rs 2000 each as cash fine. The last reward of Rs 25, 000 goes to Dhananjay Singh, circle officer of Rudauli in Faizabad. The officers worked out a blind rape and murder case of a girl and collected such evidences that the court gave life imprisonment to the accused.
