The winter session of Haryana Assembly commencing on Monday is likely to be a stormy affair with opposition INlD and Congress set to corner the ruling BJP for its alleged "failure" on various issues, including the paddy scam and plight of farmers.
The short session would prove to be an acid test for the ruling BJP as it would be hard pressed to explain its position on a variety of issues.
The Congress has alleged that the Manohar lal Khattar-led BJP Government has failed on various fronts and there is no achievement to show in the past 13 months.
On the other hand, INlD will raise the paddy scam issue, the BJP Government's turnaround on poll promises, atrocities on dalits and the plight of farmers among other issues.
The main opposition INlD's State unit chief Ashok Arora said the party will have a meeting of its legislature group here on Monday shortly before the Assembly session commences in the afternoon.
However, the Khattar Government is likely to blunt the opposition attack by talking about the steps it has taken for the welfare of various sections of the society in the past 13 months.
Asserting that the party is ready to take on the Opposition, Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said, "With the coming of the BJP government in the state, an era of all-round development has begun. We are open to debate on any issue the opposition might raise on the floor of the House."
Two days ago, Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar had said that no region is being discriminated against in the state in terms of development.
Keeping with the promise made during the Monsoon Session, the Winter Session of the Assembly has been convened so that all legislators could raise issues concerning the people of their respective areas, he had said.
