The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) on Thursday urged Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat to make a bigger budgetary provision for workers for the 2015-16 financial year.INTUC, Odisha State Branch general secretary Harish Gouranga made this demand during a pre-Budget discussion with Amat here.
He demanded that provisions be made to increase Old Age Pension to Rs1,000 per month, to include 50,000 unorganised workers in the Aam Admi Bima Yojana, to pay minimum wage to Anganwadi and Asha workers and MDM cooks and to pay loans to farmers at the rate 1 per cent interest rate. Besides, Gouranga requested the Finance Minister to make a provision of Rs1 crore to provide operational subsidies to 2700 Primary Agri loan Cooperative Societies.
