Raksha Bandhan is a bond of protection, love, security and purity where sisters tie a holy thread to brothers and pray for their well-being and in turn brother pledges to protect his sisters from any evil.Taking a clue from the concept, ECO club of IIM Raipur has initiated a unique way to build sacred bonding with the environment, according an institute Press release issued here.
Students and faculty of IIM Raipur have celebrated this festivity in a unique way by tying rakhis to plants and trees.This unique and novel method of celebration was employed to create public awareness on environmental protection calling upon the people to safeguard Chhattisgarh's green cover.
Taking stock of the fact that environment steadily lacks its charm, students have taken up this initiative and pledged to conserve the environment.
The event was inaugurated by PRS Sharma, Professor in Operations Department. Hundreds of students came out faring the heavy rains outside and vowed to protect their adopted brother for the next two years of their campus life.
The event showcased strong support and solidarity among the students for need of the hour; to conserve the nature. Most of them were elated to share their satiation for rolling out the new initiative. Eco Club was founded on October 2, 2014 on the day when Swach Bharat Abhiyan was launched. Since then the club has been organising number of social drives like tree plantation, bird watching and educating people about environment.
Chhattisgarh is a state blessed with abundant natural resources. About 40 per cent of the State is under forest cover. The initiatives aimed at conserving nature assume great significance in the state. To take this ahead Eco club kickstarted conducting various activities, it stated.Students , fraternity and villagers from nearby sejbahar village were also present on the occasion.
