Heart awareness programme to mark World Heart Day held

To create awareness about heart diseases and their prevention, a programme was convened in the Defense Services Institute located at Dehradun cant area on Tuesday. The programme was organised as a part of series of activities marking the World Heart Day from September 27 to October 01.

The event was inaugurated by the Deputy General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Uttarakhand Sub area Brigadier Vineet Sood by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his address Sood lauded joint efforts of state health directorate, army hospital and Station health organisation for the event and asked everyone to follow the suggestions for a healthy heart.

The Commandant of Army hospital Brigadier Y S Bisht and lt Col Alok Gupta gave detailed account of diseases like heart disease, cancer and diabetes and highlighted bad effects of bad food habits, alcohol consumption, and smoking. The artists of Sambhav Kala Manch presented a skit on the occasion.
