Haryans State Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against nine officials of Ambala forest department for alleged misappropriation of Rs4.99 crore in MGNREGA scheme while planting saplings and developing parks in the district.Three days back, Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar had ordered registration of a case in this matter. The matter had been lingering for many years.
As per the Chief Minister’s orders, apart from registering FIR, a Departmental Action would also be initiated against the nine officials under Section – 7 and Rs16, 62,080 would also be recovered from them.A Vigilance Bureau spokesman said a case was registered against Jag Mohan Sharma, Gokul Sharma, Rajesh Rana, Prshant Sharma, Vinod Kumar, Kalyan Sharma, Deepak Kumar, Chandar Mohan and Surender Kumar under various sections IPC and section (13 (1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act last night.
According to the FIR, an amount of Rs25.13 crore was allotted to Ambala forest department for various development works in the rural areas of the district under the NREGA scheme. Out of which the fraud of Rs55.50 lakh was uncovered in the development of herbal parks.
