The State Executive Committee (SEC) for Haryana State Disaster Response Fund has decided to set up a Disaster Management Cell at the State headquarters.
The SEC has also decided to prepare a disaster management Plan for districts of Haryana falling under NCR so as to ensure effective response in case of an earthquake.
A meeting was presided over by Haryana Chief Secretary, DS Dhesi on Thursday to review physical achievements, progress in the previous year and measures for smooth functioning of disaster management work in the state. During the meeting, it was decided that stakeholder departments such as Police, Fire, Health, Irrigation, Civil Defence and Home Guards should be fully equipped with the modern necessary equipment. It was informed in the meeting, that the complete NCR region is falling in earthquake zones-III and IV. Earthquake zone-IV is high damage risk zone.
Notably, for enhancing the disaster response capacity of the state, Department of Home is providing training to a Company of Indian Reserve Battalion(IRB), Bhondsi, Gurgaon through National Disaster Response Force in various aspects such as collapsed structure search and rescue; medical first response; response to nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) emergencies.
