Revenue of Rs5,911 crore has been collected by Haryana Excise and Taxation Department during the last three months recording an increase of Rs379 crore as compared to the collection made in the corresponding period of last financial year.A sum of Rs5,532 crore was collected during the same period last financial year. A spokesman of the department said that the maximum component of tax collection was made from Value Added Tax (VAT) and Central Sales Tax (CST). During the last three months of October, November and December 2014, a sum of Rs4,352 crore was collected as VAT which is 6.90 per cent more as compared to the collection of Rs4,071 crore made in the corresponding period of last year.
As far as CST collection was concerned, Rs533 crore had been collected by the department during the same period which was 18.44 per cent higher as compared to the collection of Rs450 crore made during the corresponding period of last financial year. He said that department is committed to maximising the revenue collection of the state and would achieve the allotted target of Rs24,992 crore for the financial year 2014-15.
