Alleging that payment of Rs1 crore as bribe is required for appointment to the post of Vice-Chancellor in Madhya Pradesh, an activist organisation has released an audio clipping to support its claim. In the allegations, it is stated that an acting Vice-Chancellor could not become regular V-C as he had failed to give `1 crore to the Governor.

A compact disc (CD) containing the audio clipping was released by the Yuva Prakosht Nagrik Upbhokta Manch during a press conference here on Wednesday.

The audio clipping contains a conversation between Jabalpur-based Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary University acting Vice-Chancellor SNS Parmar and an associate professor. In the conversation, Prof Parmar tells his colleague that he was not considered for the post of Vice-Chancellor as he did not meet the demand to pay the bribe amount.

Talking to reporters, the Manch's Manish Sharma demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. He said the Manch would move the High Court if the demand was not met.

Earlier, the Manch had lodged a complaint with the lokayukta along with an audio clipping over the alleged demand of `3 lakh as bribe made by the university's Registrar, RK Gupta, for making appointment to the post of associate professor.

Sharma demanded that appointments made in other universities of the State should also be investigated as it is likely to expose an appointment scam in the universities.

After the sensational Vyapam case, this is another case that has put the Governor House under the scanner. After this serious allegation has come to fore, either the Governor House should come out with a clarification or an enquiry should be conducted, said Sharma.
