Govt docs to be sent to NIMHANS for training

Government doctors of the State will be sent to NIMHANS, Bengaluru for training to treat mental diseases. This was informed at a workshop of National Mental Health Policy on Monday. Prime Programme PHFI’s Chief Researcher Rahul Shidhaye, Director Health Dr BS Ohri and head of psychiatry department in Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. Dr RN Sahu were also present on the occasion.

Director NHM Faiz Ahmad Kidwai informed that Madhya Pradesh Government is committed to implementing National Mental Health Policy. He said that District Mental Health Programme is being implemented effectively.

It is noteworthy that Central Government had announced National Mental Health Policy in October 2014. Under the policy, efforts have been made to lessen burden caused by mental diseases, remove lacunae in treatment and reduce disability in persons due to mental diseases.
