Fresh snowfall likely in parts of State today

Tuesday, 31 March 2015 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Moderate to rather heavy rainfall was reported in the plains and mountainous parts of the State between on Sunday and Monday, said Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Anand Sharma on Monday. People got respite from the sultry spell as the rains over the past two days caused the mercury to dip by few degrees in Dehradun and its adjoining areas. Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecasted rain/snow at isolated places in hills especially Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand. Dry weather would prevail in rest of the Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
Sharma said that one more western disturbance is expected between April 2 and April 4. The higher reaches of the State may receive light rainfall with snow fall.
The plain parts of the State may receive rainfall at isolated places. The Met officials are monitoring the developing situation, he added.

Moderate to heavy rainfall rains affected normal life at many places in the State capital, in particular, and in various parts of the State, in general, since Sunday to Monday noon.
