FJCCI election schedule yet to be decided

Monday, 31 August 2015 | PRAGYA PAllAVI | Ranchi

Whether the general elections of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries will be conducted this year or not is yet to be decided by the governing body of the FJCCI.

However, the preparations for the elections have been completed, but to date, no opposition team has come up to fore or shown interest for a battle. Usually, every year candidates get ready during this period when elections are declared.

“As per the rules and guidelines, the general elections will only be conducted if we receive at least 21 nominations. In the case where 21 nominations are not filed then the elections will automatically be cancelled,” said General Secretary of FJCCI Pawan Kumar Sharma.

However, the day for filling the application form has already been decided by the governing body. From September 1 to 4 candidates can fill the nomination papers and the final decision that whether this time the general election will be conducted or not will be finalised on September 10.

“This time according to the new act it is mandatory for the candidates to file the direct identification number (DIN) along with the nomination papers”, said, President FJCCI, Ratan Kumar Modi.

“Those candidates who fail to submit their direct identification number their nomination forms will get automatically cancelled,” Modi further added. In accordance with the current status the final decision can only be taken after the entire process of filling the nomination papers gets over.

“Presently we have only one group and we are waiting for the nomination process to be completed. After the scrutiny of forms is complete then only we can come to any conclusion,” Modi mentioned.

Inspite of all this, if the Chamber receives 21 nominations or more then only the general body meeting will be conducted on September 19 and the election will be conducted on September 20 at Marwari Bhawan.

The services of the Chamber have been recognised by the Central and State Government and a representation to the Chamber was granted on the advisory committees constituted by different State and Central Committees.

Present membership of FJCCI is about 2374 which includes 77 trade and industries associations affiliated with the Chamber. The memberships of these associations are about five thousand.
