The theatre buffs of the city will enjoy watching different plays of different genres in a five-day theatre festival that would be organised at Shaheed Bhavan in the month of May. Organised by Maahi Socio Cultural Group, the plays would be staged by the artistes of Maahi Socio Cultural Group starting from May 13. All the plays are directed by renowned directors of the theatre industry.

The theatre festival would be convened in the memory of a noted and distinguished theatre artiste Ajay Tiwari. Notably, every year Maahi Socio Cultural Group organises a theatre fest in the memory of Ajay Tiwari to give him a tribute. He has contributed in the world of theatre immensely and has given new forms to theatre industry.

Moreover, on the inaugural day of the theatre fest, an award ceremony will also be organised for the theatre artistes and directors. Moreover, interestingly, this theatre fest is being organised on a national level and the theater artistes from across the country will be called for the fest. As many as six plays will be staged during the fest.

The fest will get underway on May 13 with the Hindi play Waiting For Godot directed by Manoj Nair. Further on May 14, two plays Hindi plays will be staged. First the play Sorry directed by Hemant Punjabi from Mumbai and another Hindi play Coffee House mein Intezaar directed by Skand Mishra will be staged. On May 15, play Patkatha directed by Manas Bharadwaj will be staged. On May 16, Camp directed by Anand Mishra will be performed. The theatre fest will have a grand closure with Hindi play Please Mat Jao directed by Anoop Joshi. Moreover, short plays and pots meet will also be a part of the five-day theatre fest.
