FIR against Cong MlA for firing at mining mafia

Sunday, 31 May 2015 | PNS | Haridwar

An FIR was registered on Saturday against Congress MlA from Khanpur in Haridwar district, Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ at Pathri police station for firing shots on a group at Bishanpur Kundi on Friday evening.

It is learnt that the incident took place after his followers informed the MlA that some outsiders were engaged in illegal mining in Ganga at Bishanpur Kundi area of the district. Champion along with his supporters reached the spot and opened fire on those doing mining there, sources said, adding that the followers of the MlA also picked up some persons.

Acting on the complaint lodged by Charan Singh Chauhan, a resident of village Rani Majara under Pathri police station against the MlA and around 60 unidentified persons, Pathri police registered the case on Saturday morning under Section 307,147,148,149,323,504 and 506 of IPC.

However, on the other hand, the followers of Champion served a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Uttarakhand, on Saturday through the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) laksar, demanding a full-fledged probe into the matter. They alleged that the miscreants were out to implicate him in false cases by way of a conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the State Government has imposed a blanket ban on mining in Haridwar. State Chief Secretary N Ravishankar banned the use of Pokeland machine with immediate effect on Saturday.

He also instructed Haridwar DM and SSP to enforce this strictly and if it is found being used then DM and SSP would be accountable for this.
