FIR against attacks on demolition squad

The police have registered an FIR against those who attacked BMC anti- encroachment squad during removal of encroachment near Dussehra ground at Ashoka Garden.

The squad having more than a dozen members was headed by Qamar Shaqib, was attacked with sharp-edged weapons, iron rods and wooden sticks by the accused Rajesh Twiari and his accomplices.

Action was taken after a complaint was lodged against Rajesh Tiwari regarding conducting commercial activities on encroached land near his house and the claims were found true. Initially Tiwari and his accomplices threatened the squad members but when they found the squad firm on removal they were attacked by Tiwari and his accomplices.

The BMC squad members which were injured were identified as Kishore Malviya, Jai Prakash, Rizwan and Salmaan and escaped with minor injuries in the attack.

Rajesh Tiwari who lives near Dussehra ground started a restaurant by encroaching plot in front of his house. In the investigation which was done after a complaint was lodged against the illegally operated restaurant by Tiwari.

The BMC squad had visited earlier to remove the encroachment but Tiwari offered to provide time for the removal of the encroachment but even after the time taken by the accused the encroachment was not removed after which the action was taken on Wednesday. A case under Section 353, 332, 309, 294, 506 and 34 of the IPC against Rajesh Tiwari, Arpit Tiwari, Rajesh Mehta and others have been registered and have started further investigation.
