A fact finding team of social activists led by lok Shakti Abhiyan president Prafulla Samantara on Thursday visited Pangalapadar under the Tumudibandha police limits in Kandhamal district to meet family members of the couple who was killed by CRPF jawans on Sunday in a fake encounter.
later the fact finding team comprised social activist Tapan Padhi, Nissan magazine editor lelin Kumar, Samata Parishad’s Abhiram Malik, Sal Marandi of the Odisha Adivasi Adhikar Manch and Narendra Mohanty of the Campaign Against Fabricated Case briefed mediapersons here in the evening about the issue.
Samantara said the people of the Tumudibandha area demanded shifting of CRPF camp from their locality as the jawans have created terror among the public in the name of combing operations.
He said the Kotagarh police neither lodged FIR nor inquire the matter by visiting the village. “People of the village said the CRPF jawans tried to bury the couple after killing them,” he added.
The team members said the people have been demanding Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the deceased’s family. It’s a coldblooded murder, they alleged.
