The Bhasa Suraksha Sammilani has decided to demonstrate at district level to put pressure on the Government to implement the Orissa Official language Act. A decision to this effect was taken at the Sammilani’s advisory committee meeting held on Fridayunder the chairmanship of Sammilani president and Rajya Sabha member Baishnab Charan Parida.
BJP leader Biswabhusan Harischandan, senior journalist Rabi Das, Professor Dr Basant Panda, committee secretary Bijay Mohanty, lawyers, linguists, educationists and bureaucrats attended and discussed the future course of action.
The participants urged the Government to enforce the Orissa Official language Act.
Dr Basanta Panda demanded that all educational institutions should impart Odia language teaching and one Odia teacher each should be posted at all the primary schools.
They also demanded Odia as a compulsory subject in higher education system. Sammilani president Baishnab Charan Parida highlighted the future work of the Sammillani. “We always demanded due recognition to Odia language but it is yet to be materalised,” said Parida.
