Considering the increased probability of drunk driving, road accidents, violent altercations and other emergency situations during New Year revelries, the GVK EMRI 108 emergency ambulance service has made special preparations to address such emergencies. Ambulances will be deployed at select locations across the State Capital to enable swift response to emergency cases during New Year revelries.

Generally, a considerable number of people travel to locations like Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainital, Ranikhet, Pithoragarh, Auli and other tourist spots to celebrate advent of the new year.

The possibility of road accidents increases considerably due to drunk driving during such celebratory periods. Taking these factors into consideration, the 108 emergency service has decided to deploy its ambulances at accident prone areas to enable immediate dispatch of the ambulance to the accident site when needed. Additionally, the 108 emergency service personnel working at the call centre and ambulances have been instructed to remain vigilant on the occasion.

The Uttarakhand State head of the emergency service, Manish Tinku, while greeting the State residents and tourists, has also requested the people to celebrate the occasion in a safe manner.

Citing data of seven years till now with the 108 emergency service, Tinku stated that compared to general days, the number of road accidents and police related emergency cases increases on the occasion of new year celebration. He further informed that based on past experience, some alteration has been made in the locations of all ambulance vehicles deployed in Dehradun city this year.

On the night of December 31 in Dehradun city, the GVK EMRI 108 emergency service ambulances will be deployed at locations including Survey Chowk, Ballupur Chowk, Sahastradhara crossing, Rispana bridge, ISBT, Jakhan, Rajpur Road and Race Course Chowk. With this, it will be possible to dispatch the ambulance swiftly to the accident location whenever needed. The emergency state head further informed that ambulances deployed in other locations have also been kept on alert for the occasion.
