Special Police Establishment (SPE) of lokayukta nabbed an Assistant Grade II employee posted with Electrical Safety Department while accepting bribe of Rs 500 at Secretariat from a contractor on Monday.The accused Seema Shrivastava who is Assistant Grade –II employee of Electricity department was caught red handed by the lokayukta from the victim contractor who provided the bribe for the renewal of the license. Victim Imran Khan who is a contractor with the department is authorized contractor with the department and possesses license to apply for contractual works.
After visiting the office and contacting the officials for the renewal of his license, Imran failed to get his license renewed and later he was asked bribe of Rs 500 to facilitate the renewal of the license.Frustrated over the bribery demand the victim lodged a complaint with the lokayukta regarding the demand of bribery for the renewal of the license. On receipt of the complaint, the lokayukta police officials organized a trap and handed over the victim with the demanded cash. On Monday the victim visited to the office at the third floor in Satpura Bhawan and while the accused was accepting the bribe, the lokayukta officials caught him red-handed. A case under section 13(1) (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the accused. later, he was released on personal bond. Further investigation in the case was on.
