The payment for water and electricity bills in Chandigarh can now be made online. For, the UT Administration on Thursday launched e-payment facility for electricity and water bills in the city.
The e-payment portal www.samparkchd.nic.in, from where citizens can easily make online payment of their electricity and water bills was launched by Vijay Kumar Dev, , Adviser to UT Administrator.
This facility will offers a range of payment options like; net banking, debit card & credit card of any bank through which a payment can be made by the residents for their electricity and water bills.
The residents have to pay additional charges while making e-payment including Rs 10 per transaction through internet banking, @0.75 per cent for payments upto `2000 and @ 1 percent for payments above `2000 for payment through debit card and @1 per cent of transaction amount for payment through credit card and service Tax@14 per cent, , said a UT Administration spokesperson.
The spokesperson said, “With the launch of this facility internet savvy citizens can now pay their electricity & water bills with the click of the button while sitting at home or anywhere without visiting any Sampark centre. Introduction of the online payment facility will bring about a sea change in the standard of the public services in Chandigarh.”
The UT Department of Information Technology played a key role in launching this e-payment gateway.
