Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Thursday issued directions to the concerned officials to get the drinking water tanks installed at public places cleaned like bus stands, hospitals, schools, colleges and hostels within a week and thereafter, take samples of drinking water.In case of failure of the samples, action would be taken against the incharge of the institution, he said while presiding over a meeting of Health Department to control diseases like diarrhoea, malaria and dengue.
He issued directions to Public Health Engineering Department to check leakage in water pipes in all villages, towns, colonies and other places and repair them.
Vij also asked all Civil Surgeons to keep full stock of necessary medicines required to treat cases of diarrhoea, malaria, dengue and other diseases which spread during the rainy season.
The Health Department was asked to generate awareness among the people about the diseases which might spread during the rainy season. He also stressed the need to spray insecticides in areas of stagnated water to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.Vij said that the Education Department through the medium of schools, would educate students to save themselves from diarrhoea and keep their surroundings clean.
Besides this, through the medium of EDUSAT, all teachers and students in schools would be provided awareness about cleanliness and other important information so as to save themselves from diseases.The Anganwadi Workers would also generate health awareness through pamphlets of health department and distribute publicity material among the people at their doorsteps, added the Minister.
