The Municipal Corporation of Haldwani (MCH) is going to introduce door-to-door garbage disposal scheme to ensure smooth disposal off the civic wastes in a scientific manner.
As the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration said a piece of four hectare of land has been identified to construct the trenching ground at Haldwani’s Golapaar area for proper disposal off the civic wastes. Side by side, an amount of `15 crore has also been sanctioned for implementation of this smooth garbage disposal scheme.
More, so out of this sanctioned fund of `15 crore , an amount of `8 crore has already been released by the Government of India, informed the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration.
Therefore, construction works would be started on this trenching ground project within a couple of months.
After completion of the said garbage disposal site, civic wastes collected from about 43,000 houses which fall in the jurisdiction of the Haldwani municipal corporation, would be segregated at this trenching ground site, as the officials concerned said. At the same time in a bid to ensure proper segregation of the civic wastes i.e. biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes separately at the source level, two dustbins would be provided to each house that comes under the Haldwani municipal corporation’s jurisdiction, the officials concerned added.
Haldwani is rapidly taking shape of an urban city, but proper disposal of civic wastes has always been a cause of concern for the civic officials concerned.
On account of non-availability of a landfill site, the commercial capital of hill State, Haldwani is finding hard to dispose off more than 60 tone of garbage that the city generates everyday.
Though respective Governments took initiatives to deal with this civic concern, much has not yet been done over the years to dispose off the civic wastes in a scientific manner.
However, once this scientific method of garbage disposal scheme is implemented, it would greatly help to ensure smooth and proper disposal of tones of wastes and to maintained cleanliness of the city, maintained the officials concerned.
