Come October month and denizens of Chhattisgarh might get some relief from the hot and humid weather.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has predicted showers from October 2 to 4 with a decline in temperature.
“We are almost out of the threat of drought-like condition. A few days back around one-third part of the State was under the risk,’ said GK Das, Head of Agrometeorology Department, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University (IGAU) on Tuesday.
The atmosphere is likely to have atleast 70-80 per cent moisture, claims the data of Indian Meteorological Department.
In plain areas, the maximum temperature till the next one week will hover between 32 to 34 degree celsius. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature will remain around 20 to 24 degrees celsius.
Residents believe the change in climate will bring relief from the present scorching heat.
Kajal, a Hosteller residing near Shankarnagar Turning Point said, “It is difficult to sleep in the room during daytime despite switching on the cooler and fans.”
Similarly, Shopkeeper Manish Shivani said, “I prefer not to deal customers in the afternoon hours due to the hot weather. A certain decrease in temperature is highly required.”
Observing the upcoming weather, IGAU scientists have suggested farmers to take precautions on the farming of vegetables and fruits.
A report released by Das, Agriculture Department Deputy Director RK Chandravanshi and Rural Agriculture Meteorological Services Nodal Officer Jl Choudhary stated that the present atmosphere is suitable for growing banana and papaya.
Farmers can use orchard sprayer to keep away pesticides from sugarcane.
Notably, on September 20, IGAU Scientists had declared that eight out of the 27 districts namely Koriya, Sarguja, Jashpur, Dhamtari, Raipur and Janjgir-Champa are yet to come over the drought-like condition and felt it would continue.
