Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa was on Saturday re-elected as president of Punjab Olympic Association (POA). Raja KS Sidhu and RS Gill have been unanimously elected as General Secretary and Vice President of POA.
Dhindsa and others were elected unanimously during Annual General Body Meeting and election of office bearers of POA at Punjab Olympic Bhawan, Mohali. They have been elected for the next four years.
After being re elected President of Punjab Olympic Association, Dhindsa announced that resuming state games would be the foremost task of the Association. He said they will form a committee in this regard soon so that in association with Punjab Institute of Sports necessary steps could be taken. He said that the annual fund of Rs. 70 crore earmarked for Sports through Cess should be allocated to associations.
General Secretary Raja KS Sidhu announced that ‘Hall of Fame’ highlighting achievements of Punjab in Sports would be constructed at Punjab Olympic Bhawan, which would depict kits, sports goods, medals and portraits of World Fame Sports Icon of Punjab. He said in first phase copper statue of Olympian Balbir Singh Senior, Flying Sikh Milkha Singh and Olympic Champion Abhinav Bindra would be installed.
